This vessel was built in 1965 at the N.V. Scheepswerven in Millingen, Holland, and called 'Maasbank'. In September 1977 she was renamed 'Banckert'. The Maasbank served for 12 years in the western part of Holland. The engine is 1800HP.

The Zwarte Zee was built in 1963 at J. & K. Smit's Scheepswerven N.V. in Kinderdijk, Holland. Driven by two Smit-MAN turbo diesels yielding over 9,000HP. These engines drive a single propellor shaft through a Vulcan fluid clutch and reduction gears. When a fast manouevre is necessary one of the engines can drive forward, the other reverse.

Smit Nederland
The Smit Nederland was built in 1979 at the BV Scheepswerft & Machinefebriek 'De Merwede' in Hardinzveld, Holland. The vessel is driven by two 'Stork Werkspoor' Diesels of 1800HP. Top speed is 12 knots with an acting radius of 2250 miles. A special detail of this ship is the propellors that are equipped with reversible blades in jet streams, and two basin rudders that ensure good manouevrability.
