Mayflower
A three masted galleon launched in 1615. The first information about the Mayflower dates from 6th September 1620. After a number of difficulties, the vessel sailed from Plymouth with 102 men, women and children on board. After 67 days at sea she cast anchor at the port later to be called Provincetown - almost 200 miles further north than planned. Mayfloer II was built in 1957 in Brixham, Devon and sailed to the USA where she is now permanently anchored as a gift to the American nation.

Bounty
An armed merchant vessel launched in 1787. The mutiny on the Bounty is perhaps the most well known of all mutinies at sea. Together with loyal crew Captain Bligh was set to sea in an open boat about 30 miles from Tofua.

Dragen
The first dragen was built in 1929 in Gothenburg, Sweden. the sailing characteristics of the vessel were so fine that the boat was soon used throughout the world, and especially in Europe. As time passed the Dragen was changed gradually, so that today only the hull is original. In 1948 the dragen became an Olympic yachting class.

Oseberg
The Oseberg was found in Norway at Oseberg in Vestfold in 1903 resting on a bed of blue clay and covered with turf and stones. The Oseberg was built in the last half of the 800's and was buried roughly 50 years later. The ship is some 50 to 100 years older than similar vessels that have been found. It lay deep in the water and must have been relatively dangerous under sail.

Half Moon
Henry Hudson (1565 1611) was an english explorer who received a commission from the Dutch East India Company to find a Northern trading route to China and Japan.In April 1609 he sailed North and East on the ship the "Halve"Maen" to try and find a route around the northern shores of Russia in order to reach the Pacific Ocean that way.After several attempts which always were stopped by the pack-ice,he crossed the Atlantic to try and find a route north of America.On this voyage he sailed up the Hudson River as far as Albany.Later this river valley was settled under the auspices of the Dutch West India Company and became known as the New-Netherlands.
